MOODY GALLERY BRINGS MA’CILLE’S MUSEUM OF
MISCELLANEA TO UA
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Sarah
Moody Gallery of Art presents
“Inspiration/Transformation: 14 Photographers
Respond to Ma’Cille’s Museum of Miscellanea”
beginning Friday, April 30.
The exhibition includes 45 photographs made during a
28-year period, all of which celebrate the Gordo,
Ala., folk art environment known as Ma’Cille’s
Museum of Miscellanea. The purpose of the exhibition
is to present images by photographers who were
inspired by and responded to Lucille House’s
eccentric and creative vision.
The photographic exhibition is co-sponsored by the
Alabama State Council on the Arts and the Kentuck
Museum Association and features 14 photographers
from California, Texas, New York, Tennessee,
Alabama, Ohio and Mississippi. Eight of the featured
photographers are UA art department graduates.
An opening reception for the exhibition will be held
Friday, April 30, from 6-8 p.m. in the Sarah Moody
Gallery of Art, 103 Garland Hall. The exhibition
will run through June 18.
Funding support for the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art
comes from the College of Arts and Sciences at The
University of Alabama. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-4:30
p.m. Monday through Saturday and 2-5 p.m. Sunday.
