  • Sam Ezell was born in Mebane, North Carolina in 1953 and grew up in Durham, North Carolina. He has worked at the Daniel Boone Company in Hillsborough and has been doing general property maintenance there since 1971. Sam met outsider artist Bernice Sims by chance in 2007, and the two quickly developed a friendship. In 2008, Bernice encouraged him to begin painting. Since then, Ezell has quickly become a highly-collected outsider artist who shows extensively in the folk art scene.
