  • Throughout my life I have been pulled toward the goals of pursuing excellence and building relationships. For 36 years, those pursuits came to life through coaching gymnastics with my wife Sarah at The University of Alabama as we won NCAA championships and poured ourselves into the lives of our student athletes. After retiring from coaching, I still find myself pursuing excellence and working to coach others, but now my medium is woodworking.

My interests vary greatly from creating small pieces like pens, wine stoppers, charcuterie boards and boxes. I also enjoy creating unique tables as well as more complex pieces of furniture like rocking chairs. A passion of fly fishing has led me to build several bamboo fly rods and now I am beginning to work on wood rods as well.

I truly love working with wood that has meaning, which has led me to spend several years creating a program at The University of Alabama to keep wood out of the waste stream. Now, valuable wood is not taken to a dump site, but put in the hands of those that can use it to create something with meaning. Many pieces that I make now come from this collection.
