  • Brandon was born in Tuscaloosa and studied Art at Montevallo, the University of Alabama, Complutense University, Madrid and the John Campbell Folk School for Black Smithing. He’s shown in galleries in Alabama, Atlanta, Savannah, Paraguay, North Carolina, Madrid and Paris. He lived his early life traveling throughout Europe, Asia, and South America while studying. During his career as an artist, Brandon has taught art to adults and children. He is currently a Kentuck Studio Artist. Brandon says he’s always been an artist—he could draw before he could write, and he was introduced to metal during summers with his grandparents. His grandfather had a shop that Brandon was allowed to create in when he was younger, but it didn’t occur to Brandon that he was creating sculptures until college.

I feel that as children our imaginations are limitless. We tend to lose this gift as we age. I want to use sculpture to share what I dreamed that I could create as a boy. I let the metal lead me as I shape it, and that’s when the magic happens.”-Brandon McCullar
