Charlotte Wegrzynowski's show will be on display in Kentuck's Teer Gallery from September 5, 2024 to September 29, 2024. The title of her show, "Mimesis," is a word that means a representation or imitation of the real world in art and literature. Charlotte's detailed work certainly pushes not only the boundaries between representation and imitation but also between realism and abstraction.
“My work meditates on color and form using fragments of objects around me as inspiration. Sometimes, the tightly rendered surfaces are abstracted through lack of context."
Charlotte's work is a masterful example of form and color. Her work represents her close observation of the interplay between light and objects in the world around her. These close observations allow the object to be seen out of context. This lack of context allows the viewer to see without the constraints of a narrative freeing them to make their own judgments.
"When narrative is used in the pieces, it is ambiguous and theatrical, concealing rather than revealing."
Charlotte uses a bold color palette and high contrasts of light and dark to be the primary explorations of her work. In the show there are two large charcoal images that, despite their lack of color, engage the viewer with their technical and dynamic rendering.
In addition to her own artistics pursuits, Charlotte teaches Drawing I and Design I in the Foundations area of the UA Department of Art and Art History. She has taught graduate-level watercolor classes for the Department of Theatre & Dance and has given guest lectures in art appreciation as well as in anthropology classes. She also teaches through the community partnerships program at Arcadia Elementary School in Tuscaloosa.
Charlotte has been juried into exhibitions at the Meridian Museum of Art, the Alabama Women’s Art Caucus in Huntsville and won second place in the SECAC 2016 Juried Exhibition. She received the Best of Show award in the 31st West Alabama Juried Art Show. She received her BA from The University of the South and the MFA from The University of Alabama Book Arts Program. She has been an instructor at The University of Alabama department of art and art history since 2008.
The Teer Gallery is open by appointment only. Please contact Kentuck's Gallery Shop at 205-758-1257 or email Molly Nelko at mnelko@kentuck.org to schedule a viewing or to inquire about purchasing a piece.

If you’re looking for natural hair extensions uk, Ivanafarisei is the person to see. I was hesitant about getting extensions because I wanted something that looked as natural as possible. Ivana exceeded my expectations. The extensions https://ivanafarisei.co.uk/ she applied blend so seamlessly with my natural hair that no one can tell I’m wearing them. The texture and quality are amazing, and they’ve lasted longer than any other extensions I’ve had in the past. I’m thrilled with the results and will definitely be returning for maintenance.
