Kentuck Artists in the Schools is an outreach program of the Kentuck Festival of the Arts. This program has existed for over 20 years, and Kentuck Art Center and Festival works diligently to continutely expland the program to reach as many 3rd grade students as possible. In 2022, over 1,500 students in Tuscaloosa County and City schools were reached with this program.

The Friday morning before the Kentuck Festival of the Arts, participating Festival Artists and their assistants teach a lesson to 3rd graders in the Tuscaloosa City and County Schools. These lessons vary from demonstrations to hands-on artwork creation. This is an outstanding opportunity for the students to work with professional artists. Kentuck has seen strong support of this program from elementary art teachers as it enhances the curriculum that already exists. Not only does the Artists in the Schools program expose these 3rd graders to new artists and ways of make, but the program also highlights the viable career paths that exist in the arts.
