About the exhibition:

Longtime friends and fellow Georgia artists, Eric and CHUB are familiar faces to Kentuck Festival patrons who may remember their booths facing each other across the path each October. Their work reflects Kentuck's year-long exhibition theme, "Gifts of the Spirit," exploring art as a calling shaped by faith, transformation, and personal vision. Together, their contrasting materials and shared sense of purpose create a  dialogue rooted in creativity, friendship, and spiritual expression.

About Eric:

Eric Legge was working at a developmental center for mentally and physically disabled patients, when he developed a profoundly spiritual outlook on life and a strong desire to express himself seriously through art. A painter since the age of 3, Legge now creates work that is influenced by nature and his surroundings. “Being able to think, see and comprehend the world around you, that is a wonderful gift. I guess I decided that painting and creating art is the best way to use that gift,” he says. Eric describes the genesis of his inspiration: “Well, it starts in the heart,” he says. “The mind perceives it and the hand gives it shape. I think of it as a trinity, you know – Heart, Mind and Hand.”

About CHUB:

With no formal art training since grade school, Kentucky native, now Athens, Georgia resident, Chris Hubbard left a 20-year career as a scientist (microbiologist and environmental consultant) in 1998 to be “born again” as an artist. This transformation began with his decision to make an art car and participate in the art car scene. At one time, he drove his art car, the “Heaven and Hell Car”, daily. The car is a lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek expression of the good vs. bad dichotomy of self, other people, and life in general. Today, he creates metal sculptures that are the same sort of characters that were on his art car.
