A native of Michigan, Lansburg collects driftwood she finds along the shoreline of Lake Michigan, the worlds largest body of freshwater, and turns the pieces into vivid and alluring works of art. The pieces of driftwood that she finds most inspirational are those that have been preserved by the lakes deep, cold waters. With her artistic eye, the unique driftwood comes to life as vibrant and striking figures. Originally a self-taught furniture maker, Lansburg worked first on making small chairs, then later turned to making expressive figures from the raw and majestic material.
