my spiritual odyssey

by scott mcqueen | museum gallery | february 5, 2026 - february 28, 2026

reception: february art night, february 5, 2026

Scott McQueen, a full-time folk artist, lives in Northport, Alabama. He and his wife, Jackie, have three grown children with families of their own.

Scott creates fun and colorful folk art using repurposed and scrap materials, along with acrylics. He has been creating and selling his art since 2011.  Scott relies on memories of life experiences, his sense of humor and strong convictions as his inspiration.

For this specific gallery show, Scott, a former minister of 34 years, walks the casual observer through his personal, chronological journey of, both, spiritual construction and de-construction.  The artwork is meant to reflect the spiritual influences on his life. It is marked by challenges, setbacks, and profound personal growth. “I am calling this show, ‘My Spiritual Odyssey,’ borrowing from Homer’s tale of Odysseus’ epic voyage home. Life is an adventurous and transformative journey of self-discovery and understanding. We never arrive…there is always space to grow and dig a little deeper. Just when we think we have it figured out, life throws us a curve…and onward, we sail.”
