art exploration camp

Session A: June 7-10, 2021 | Ages 7-9 | 9 AM - 12 PM

Session B: July 19-22, 2021 | Ages 10-12 | 9 AM -12 PM

Looking for a way for your child to explore different artist mediums and practices this summer? Join Janet Mego this June and July for an Art Exploration Camp! Students will have fun working with the basics of drawing with pencil and charcoal and with exploring the fundamentals of watercolor and acrylic painting. Throughout the camp, students will touch on still-life, landscape, and the basics of portraiture. Individual talents and areas of interest will apply! All supplies included.

kids' summer clay camp

Instructed by Amy Smoot

Ages 6-9 and 10-12 - sessions vary

Join Amy Smoot this June or July to create and play with clay! Students will have fun exploring a variety of hand building techniques to create functional and/or sculptural artworks. Students will receive instruction through each step of the ceramics process from creating to glazing and decorating their work. Building techniques will include slab building, pinching, coiling, stamping and more!

watercolor: a memoir

This class, Instructed by Janet Mego, will tap into a memory as a prompt to create a watercolor capturing the essence of that memory. In effect, the painting will become a memoir: a landscape, a person-scape perhaps; the possibilities are endless.

me and my art: an introduction to art therapy

Instructed by Millie Dawson-Hardy | June 26, 2021; 10am-12pm

Have you ever wondered about the process of art therapy? How can it be helpful, and can I use it in my own life or maybe you are just feeling stuck in your life? If you have wondered about any of these questions or just want a relaxed and enjoyable time to commune with art come take this workshop, Me and My Art: An Introduction to Art Therapy. The class will run from 10-12 on June 26, 2021, and all supplies will be provided. You will be able to take home your supplies and your artwork. The emphasis of this class will not be on finished artwork but the healing process of art making.

Participants of all age levels and abilities will have fun with acrylics! This is not a class where participants will be instructed, but a space where you can be creative alongside clients from United Cerebral Palsy of West Alabama.

glass on glass mosaics

Instructed by Linda Munoz | July 17-18, 2021

Glass on Glass Mosaics is an opportunity for participants to create a “glass -on- glass” mosaic panel. Skills learned will include glass cutting, stained glass design, and grouting. The two day class will emphasize safe handling of glass and tools.
